William J Smith Sr.

William J. Smith Sr., affectionately known as Beej, 57 of East Stroudsburg passed away Monday April 29, 2019 at St. Luke's in Bartonsville, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 17, 1961, he was the son of the late Norman Smith Sr. and Patricia (Sweeney) Smith. He was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Bill was a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and Lincoln Technical School. He was currently employed by Lanter Trucking. Bill was of Catholic faith and a member of The Church of St. Matthew in East Stroudsburg. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed riding Harleys. For many years Bill was a coach for Stroudsburg Youth Wrestling Association (SAYWA) and a cub scout den leader. He is survived by his wife Suzanne (Chighizola) Smith, four children William Smth Jr. and his wife Ashley, Kristopher Smith his girlfriend Abigail Metzger, Jordan Smith and Amber Smith. He served as a guardian for Nelson Whitmore. His siblings Harvey Smith and Johanna Hineline, his grandson Wyatt Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Norman Smith Jr. A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 3 at 10:00 am at The Church of Saint Matthew, 178 Ridgeway Street, East Stroudsburg with Father Chantillo officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at Bensing -Thomas Funeral Home.
