Viola Virginia Havens, 90, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late Charles Havens and the late William Ehrgood. Born July 5, 1932, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of a World War I veteran, Michael Rehm, and Lillian (Counterman) Rehm. She was a proud lifetime resident of Monroe County. Viola worked as a woodworker for many years, and she also worked in housekeeping. After retirement, she devoted all her free time with the most joys of her life and taking on the role of Gram, Aunt Gram, Grammy, Old Gram, Nim-Nim and Nan-Nan to her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, loved to fish, the Yankees and going to bingo where she enjoyed catching up with family and friends. She cherished all her family gatherings. She loved her purple and white, Cavaliers. She was blessed with a long and fulfilling life, remained of sound mind until her passing, and leaves a legacy that will be remembered and loved by all for generations. Viola was her family’s matriarch, loved by all and survived by her daughters, Carolyn Frederick of East Stroudsburg, Dawn Lee of Thornhurst, and Rose Strunk and son-in-law, Charles Strunk of Stroudsburg, two brothers, Michael and his wife Jean Rehm of East Stroudsburg, James Rehm Sr of East Stroudsburg. 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Molly. She is preceded by a son, William Jacob Ehrgood III, brothers Morgan Strunk, Marshall Rehm, sisters Eleanor Wall, Lillian S Rehm and Lois Rehm. Great-granddaughter Nicole Clatterbuck. Her longtime loving companion Robert Cruse. We will forever miss her sass and spunkiness (quality of one being of spirited and courageous). We all know she had her own language, IYKYK. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 20, 2022, at 11:00am at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, Pa with Pastor Wen-Ling Lai officiating.
