Sussie May VanWhy, 69, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Wednesday August 10, 2022 at the Gardens at Easton, Easton, Pennsylvania, She was the wife of John E. VanWhy, they were married for 52 years. Born November 27, 1952 in Easton Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (Ace) Counterman, she was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Sussie worked at the Treasurer's Office in the Monroe County Court House for many years; and prior to that she worked at the Pocono Record. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children John W. VanWhy of Greentown, Tammy Dugan of East Stroudsburg, Russell William VanWhy and his wife Deborah of Saylorsburg, Tracy Fazio and her husband Richard of Henryville, Scott VanWhy of Tannersville and Stephen VanWhy of East Stroudsburg. Her Grandchildren, Christopher, Wesley, Jesse, Audrey, Chelsea, Brittany, Ciera, Danielle, Maddison, Kaeden, Avery and Star. Her great grandson Devin. She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Counterman, and her son in law John Dugan. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg PA 18360. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the family in care of the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg PA 18360
