Sonya E Rake

On July 8, 2021 Sonya E. (nee Seese) Rake died at the age of 89 years old. She was born in Bushkill to the late Samuel T. and Ruth T. (nee Smith) Seese. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Dee” A. Rake, Jr. in 2019, her parents, and her brother George W. Seese. Her surviving sons are Thomas W. Rake (spouse Joanne) and William A. Rake, III (spouse Virginia). She is also survived by her brother, James O. Seese and her nieces and nephew: Melanie, Randy, and Wendy. Sonya had three step grandchildren Walter, James, and Courtney and five great grandchildren Ellie, Emmy, Ethan, Mason, and Ayla. Sonya had many cousins and friends in the local community. She attended school in Bushkill and East Stroudsburg and worked at Bell Telephone and RKR Associates. Sonya loved gardening, crafting, reading, and collecting treasures. She shared many folk tales, stories, and had a great sense of humor. She loved cooking. Her greatest gift was the love for her children. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021. The joint burial of the remains of Sonya and her late husband, William “Dee” Rake will take place at Sand Hill Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends immediately after the service at Petrizzo’s Restaurant. The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marshalls Creek Fire Company or the Bushkill Emergency Corps.
