Sonia Patricia Reid

Sonia Patricia Reid was born on May 30 th , 1951 in Crofts Hill Clarendon in Jamaica. She was the second of five children. She was the beloved daughter of Imogene Walters and Reginald Reid. Sonia raised her four children in Kingston, Jamaica. She later moved to Greater Portmore, Jamaica where she purchased a house and established her own business. Sonia enjoyed traveling to small islands where she would purchase products to resell in her store. In 2007 Sonia migrated to the United States where she lived with her daughter Tameka. Sonia was employed as a Home Health Aid for two years in New Jersey before moving to Pennsylvania with Tameka and son-in-law Andre where she spent the remainder of her years. She was an active member of New Life International Church in Pocono Summit, PA, under the leadership of Pastor Rudy Santiago. Sonia was one of the mothers of the church, she served diligently in Missionary Ministry and Prayer/Shut-in Ministry. She loved to sing hymns and sharing testimonies. Sometimes at the end of service Sonia Reid (Mother Reid) would point her finger and state that she has something to share. No one would leave until Mother Reid would either sang her heart felt song or quote her favorite scripture. Most importantly Mother Reid delighted in spending time with the Lord. Sonia was preceded in death by her mother Imogene Walters and father Reginal Reid. She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Andrew McLaren, Andrea McLaren, Suzette McLaren and Tameka Brown; five grandchildren: Kavaughn Thompson, Melissa Nelson, Druecella Leon, Thalia Brown and Aaron Brown; four great grandchildren: Jamari Anglin, Jamelia Anglin, Tianna McDonald, Daiquan Thompson. Sonia three sisters: Gene, Maureen, Emma-Rose and Karen and one brother Easton and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
