Shirley Haggerty

March 17, 1959 - September 9, 2022

On Friday September 9, 2022, Shirley Jean (Beck) Haggerty passed away at the age of 63, but her stunning blue eyes, infectious laugh, smile, and heart of gold will continue to live on in our memory.

Shirley was born on March 17, 1959 in Newark, New Jersey. Daughter of Paul and Carol Beck, she grew up in Newton, New Jersey where she resided until her marriage to Randy H. Haggerty in 1982. The two planted roots in Pennsylvania.

Always welcome to others, Shirley’s home was warm and beautifully kept, accentuating her creativity and sense of interior design, landscaping, and horticulture. While this was her oasis, she enjoyed traveling and felt most at peace while visiting the beach. She spent many of her days with family and friends at the sunny Jersey Shore.

She was a nurturer and loved animals of all kinds, in particular her Afghan Hounds. She became a successful breeder and raised many prize winning puppies. She served as Vice President, then President of the Lehigh Valley Afghan Hound Association.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, daughter Melinda Neri and husband Matthew, son Randy and wife Lisa. Sister Joan Jaekel and husband Ernie, their sons Cole & Adam. Sister Barbara White and husband David, their son Alex and daughter Katelynn Heafy. She also leaves a very large extended family and many meaningful friendships.

Her selflessness and compassion touched the lives of everyone she met. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, September 15th at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street Stroudsburg, PA 18360 from 11 AM until 1 PM.
