Sandra "Sonji" Bensley

Sandra (Sonji) M. Bensley, 75, passed away at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest on Thursday, January 25th, 2024.

Sonji was the daughter of Horace L. Argot and Faithe E. (Keenhold) Argot. She was a 1966 graduate of the Stroudsburg School District. While her present residence was in Walnutport, she spent most of the rest of her life living in East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg.

After high school she worked as a secretary of Lobb-Rhodes Investments in Stroudsburg. She then married Brian Bensley and began to raise a family. After raising their children, she spent 19 years in retail management. She was also a regular in working the polls for elections.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 49 years, Brian Bensley and by both of her sons, Andrew and Aaron. Surviving is her grandson Aiden Bensley, her brother Bob Argot and his wife Adele, her nephew Rob Argot and his wife Tina, her nephew Ryan Argot and his wife Kellie. She also had five great-nephews and nieces.

She was a member of Bethany Wesleyan Church of Palmerton, PA.

Sonji loved sandy ocean beaches, weekends in Vermont and Lancaster, and exploring new places for both pleasure and exercise. Favorite hobbies over the years were sewing and the reading of new books and re-reading old favorites.

While there will be no official service, there will be a viewing at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home on North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg on Thursday, February 1, from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will be later, at the discretion of the family, at the Stroudsburg Cemetery next to her husband and her sons.
