In Loving Memory of Sandra Jane Franklin “Sue”

Sandra Jane Franklin “Sue,” 61, of Monroe County, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono. Born April 21, 1965, in East Stroudsburg, she was a lifelong resident of the area and was the daughter of Frank and Shirley Bishop.

Sue and her husband, Robert “Burt” Franklin, shared 48 years together and were married on October 18, 1982. Their love for one another was an example of true and lasting love. Sue was the heart and rock of her family, always putting others before herself. She had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help anyone who needed her, without questions or judgment.

Sue worked as a nurse for many years before eventually leaving nursing to clean houses, where she built lasting relationships with many clients for more than 20 years. She proudly maintained her nursing license and continued to keep her skills and credentials up to date. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years and remained active with Girl Scouts even after stepping down as a troop leader.

Above all, Sue loved her family. She treasured spending time with her daughters, nieces, nephews, siblings, and extended family. She loved family gatherings, holidays, birthdays, and spontaneous camping trips, including the memorable times when everyone brought campers and tents to camp together in her yard. Her kindness, generosity, and love brought people together and created memories that will never be forgotten.

Sue is survived by her husband, Robert “Burt” Franklin; daughters Nichole Kitts and her husband Thomas, and 2nd daughter, Christine Chell; her brother Frank Bishop and his girlfriend Susan Frantz; sisters Brenda Callahan and her husband Terry, and Lisa Wright and her husband John; her sisters-in-law  Lora Detrick, Toni (Skeet) Frisbee, Sherri Franklin and boyfriend Jim Stahl. Bridgette Franklin and her partner Paul Burkett and brothers-in-law, Jim Franklin June Franklin and wife Janice, Ronald Franklin; and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her sister Cheryl Bishop, several brothers-in-law, Larry Detrick, Arvette Williams and extended family members, and three nieces, Brandy Womack, Cindy Franklin, and Lindsay Baxter and her son Giovanni Davis. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren she never had the opportunity to meet but was incredibly excited about.

Sue will be remembered with tremendous love and respect by everyone who knew her. Her heart of gold, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family made her truly special. She was the person everyone could turn to—the one who cared for others, helped with medical needs and appointments, stayed beside loved ones when they needed support, and held the family together. Her love and memory will remain cherished forever. ❤️
