Samuel Reese, 93, of Allentown, formerly of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Friday July 20, 2018 at Devon House Senior Living, Allentown. He is the husband of Jennie A. (DeMario) Reese, and was the husband of the late Margaret (Clerihew) Reese, who died on December 24, 1997. Samuel was born May 29, 1925, in East Orange, New Jersey, the son of the late Samuel Reese Pusey and Ethel (LaMon) Reese. Samuel was a proud Veteran of both the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard. Stationed in Hawaii, Samuel was trained as a Dental Technician. Samuel also served as a Medic during World War II. He earned an Associates Degree from San Bernadino College, a Bachelors Degree from Farleigh Dickinson University and completed his Veterinarian Studies at the University of California-Davis, Prior to his retirement in 1986, Samuel worked as a Veterinarian at the Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ. He also worked for 25 years as a Research Scientist for Warner Lambert in Denville, NJ, and Parke Davis in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Samuel was a member of the Salmagundi Club in Manhattan, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. With his lifelong desire to learn, he continued going to college after retirement at East Stroudsburg University until he was 89 years old. Samuel took many history courses and was in turn interviewed by the history department. He loved art and was an avid collector. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy in the evenings. In addition to his loving wife Jennie, Samuel is survived by his nephew Edward Reese Gibson of Irvine, CA, his niece and nephew Debra Pusey Cameron and James Cameron of Gaithersburg, MD, step nephew and niece Carlton and Maxilee Reed, and his stepchildren Carol and Herbert Baxter of Glen Spey, NY, Robert Hovencamp of Bangor PA, Michael and Patricia Hovencamp of Punta Gorda, FL, Glenn and Mary Provdo of Barnegat NJ, and Bogdan and Jeanne Blicharz of Bangor, PA; 3 great nieces, Meg Cameron, Beth Cameron, and Hayden Gibson, 2 great nephews, David Cameron and Peyton Gibson, 3 step great nephews, Brian Reed, Darrin Reed, and Andrew Reed, 8 step grandchildren Stephen Hovencamp, Katie Hovencamp, Charles Fundell, Jesse Baxter, Christopher Hovencamp, Kathy Hovencamp, Kimberly Hovencamp, Joseph Provdo, Diana Gorbe, Robert Gorbe, and Stephen Blicharz, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Ariana Dundon and Joshua Osborne.
