Ryan K. Snyder

Ryan K. Snyder, 60, of Pocono Lake, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May

29, 2025. He was the loving husband of Tracy D. (Peterson) Snyder; they were married

on August 8, 1987.

Ryan was born April 15, 1965, in West Chester, PA, the son of Elizabeth “Betty” J.

(Wagner) Snyder and Richard K. Snyder. He was a resident of Monroe County since

2023 and prior to that of Connecticut for 37 years.

Ryan graduated from Lafayette College with B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1987

and later obtained his M.S, in mechanical engineering at RPI Hartford campus. Ryan

worked at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, CT from 1987 until his retirement in 2024.

He held a variety of roles during his career, but mostly he worked on designing parts for

the jet engines that Pratt and Whitney produces.

Ryan was a member of the Boy Scouts of America as a child, achieving his Eagle Scout

before turning 18. While attending Lafayette College, Ryan worked a summer job as a

tree climber in the Poconos. Ryan was an avid cyclist, both on the road and on

mountain biking trails. He enjoyed hiking, skiing, and being outdoors. He also was the

drummer in the southern rock and roll band, Idlewilde, for many years, playing local gigs

around Connecticut and recording several CDs with them. While at Lafayette College,

Ryan was an active member of the marching band and of Kirby House, a social dorm.

He loved to travel and visited over 25 countries as well as most of the US states. Ryan

enjoyed building things, fixing things, taking things apart, yard work, (especially climbing

trees,) trying different craft beers and single malt scotches, and spending time with his

wife, dear friends, and family.

Ryan was predeceased by his beloved mother Betty. In addition to his wife Tracy, Ryan

is survived by his brother, Richard Snyder, of Lancaster, PA., as well as a large number

of friends.

Memorial funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 4:00pm at the

Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA, with a visitation

from 2:00pm until the time of the service at 4:00pm. Family and friends are invited to a

meal immediately following the service at the Willow Tree Inn, 601 Ann St.,

Stroudsburg, PA.

A private burial of his cremated remains will be at the convenience of the family in the

Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg, PA at a later date.

At the request of the family, NO FLOWERS WOULD BE APPRECIATED, and in lieu of

flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the

animal care charity of your choice.
