Ruth G. Leon

Ruth G. Leon, 92, off Kellersville, passed away on Monday April 1, 2019 at Slatebelt Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 15, 1926 in East Stroudsburg the daughter of the late Calvin and Grace (Barnes) Smith, she spent most of her lifetime as a resident of Monroe County. She graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1942. Then went on to work in manufacturing in Newark, New Jersey before returning to Pennsylvania to raise her family. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary at Patterson -Kelley in East Stroudsburg; earlier she worked at the former Wyckoff’s Department Store. She was a member of the Neola United Methodist Church; and volunteered for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Food Pantry and also for the Hughes Library. Ruth is survived by her children: Robert R. Leon and his wife Diane of Arizona, Patricia M. Hoffman of Effort, Michael C. Leon of Martins Creek, and Jeffrey J. Leon of Stroudsburg; her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bernard P. Smith and Donald Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 11 at 11:00am at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Margie Good officiating. Burial will follow in the Kellersville Cemetery, Hamilton Township. There will be a viewing from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
