Russell G. Hooey

Russell G. “Russ” Hooey, 85, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Sunday March 24, 2024, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Pocono. He was the companion of Margaret H. Holmes since 1992.
Born November 21, 1938, in Hardwick, New Jersey, the son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Titman) Hooey, he was a long-time resident of Monroe County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis Russ worked as a welder at Patterson-Kelley in East Stroudsburg for over 35 years.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the American Legion.
In addition to his companion, Russ is survived by his daughter Robin M. Garcia and her husband Sal of Henderson, Nevada; his son Russell G. “Rusty” Hooey II of Reeders; his 2 granddaughters Isebella and Gracie; and several stepchildren, and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by his siblings, Richard Hooey, Brenda King, Barbara VanHorn, and Kenneth “Butch” Hooey.
Russ was predeceased by his other siblings, Harold Hooey, Marge Kulp, Lois Bogart, Donad Hooey, and Robert Hooey
Memorial funeral services with military honors will be held on Friday March 29, 2024 at 7:30pm with a visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
