Ronald “Scotty” McIntosh Scotty passed away at peacefully at his home in Poplar Valley. He was born in the slums of Glasgow and raised by a single mother. After graduation from high school he emigrated to the United States. His first job was at Shawnee Resort and he worked for many years in the resort industry. Eventually, he was employed by PennDot and worked as a Construction Permit Inspector until his retirement. His great loves were singing, acting, traveling, and writing. He sang with Sweet Spirit quartet for many years, as well as singing in nursing homes and local churches. Scotty took acting lessons with Florence Winston in New York and performed in many community productions including Center Stage, Pocono Lively Arts and the Worthington Players, as well as off-off Broadway and the New Jersey Shakespeare Theatre. After retirement, he began to write extensively, primarily short stories and memoirs. He was proud when two of his efforts were published. He and his wife traveled extensively both in this country and abroad. Scotty was an active member of the Poplar Valley Methodist Church. He volunteered with RSVP by reading to children at Headstart, working Red Cross blood drives, singing and reading at nursing homes, and knitting hats. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen, two sons—Scot and his wife Shelby of Seattle, and Patrick and his wife Anney of Mertztown,Pa., a daughter Kelley of Santa Monica, Ca. , three grandchildren—Ember, Coal and Lucas, his sister Mary in Glasgow, and other cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother George. Scotty may be best remembered for his bad jokes and his laugh! No funeral services are scheduled at this time.
