Robin Griffin was born on February 11, 1960. She left this earth on January 10, 2021, her father’s born date. She was the third child of Edward Porter and Harriet Robinson. Robin’s love of animals manifested itself early in her life. As a child, on her first trip to Florida, she somehow managed to bring back a lizard! Lizzy was her name. Her love of travel manifested itself early too. At the age of eighteen, she booked a solo trip to Bonaire. A little girl born in the South Bronx had high expectations for life. Robin studied accounting and bookkeeping at the New York Business School. She held several managerial positions within various industries, manufacturing, restaurant and retail. She was Director of Accounts Payable after working for almost 19 years at Paragon Sports. And it was at Paragon Sports where she met the love of her life, Tony Griffin. Robin and Tony were married on November 15, 1997. They just celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary. He shared her love of animals. Together they raised two cats, Ian, a Siamese and Damien, a Tabby; three birds, Oscar, a Quaker and Peanut and Buddy, Cockatiels; and a Tibetan Mastiff, Simon. They moved from Briarwood, NY to Pennsylvania in 2001. They built their own home, affectionately referred to as The Villa. It was Robin’s dream to celebrate with her family all around her, cooking good food, dancing to good music, watching good movies and having good talks around the kitchen island that led to a few tears on many occasions. And that we did. Robin and Tony traveled extensively. Cruising became their preferred method. With that desire to have her family and friends around her, cruising became a family affair. She was an all-out cruise director. Robin created many great friendships on these trips. She would make videos of the trips set to fabulous music. Watching together would bring back such good memories. She even contemplated opening a business creating videos for the public. Robin was a great cook. She loved trying to replicate the taste and texture of her Mom’s cakes, always tweaking until she got it. In 2017, Robin and Tony downsized into another custom home. It still could accommodate family gatherings, but on a smaller scale. The home was perfect for bird watching, one of her favorite pastimes. She would feed the birds and capture photos of humming birds, blue jays and cardinals. By June of 2020, the pandemic had been keeping families apart. Robin yearned to see her family. She planned a socially distanced get together. Good food, good music, good talks. That we had. God works in mysterious ways. That was our last time together. Robin is survived by her husband Tony Griffin, her father-in-law, Richard Griffin, her brother-in-law, Andre Griffin and her niece Charice McArthur and nephew DeAndre Griffin, her sister-in-law, Artise Griffin, her brother-in-law, Kevin Horton, her nephew Brandon Griffin, her niece-in-law, Joanna Perpign and, her great-niece, Aniya Griffin, her nieces Jasmin Griffin and Kiara Griffin, her cousin-in-law, Craig Parker, her second cousin-in-law Kai Parker; her sister, Karen Pereira and her brother-in-law Victor Pereira, her nephew, Christian Pereira, her sister, Phyllis Porter, her niece, Nikea Coles, her great-nephew, Eddie Sosa, her brother, Derek Porter, her sister-in-law, Rachel Porter, and her niece Justine Brysbane; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends.
