Robert James Smith, 82, Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday November 7, 2024, at the Lehigh Valley Hospice House, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of June (Deihl) Smith, they had been married for 58 years.
Born December 18, 1941, in Stroudsburg, the son of the late Woodrow Sr. and Pearl (Perry) Smith.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne
Robert was the owner and operator of Smitty’s Rental in East Stroudsburg for many years. When he retired, he worked for Stroudsburg Electric Motor Services, the Home Depot, and East Stroudsburg University.
He is survived by his wife, June (Deihl) Smith; his 2 sons, Michael R. Smith of Wooddale, and Jeffrey D. Smith of Stroud Township: his 2 granddaughters Josephine “Josie” Smith and Michayle “Kayle” Smith.
He is also survived by his sister Patty Vopel and her husband Tim of Reeders.
Robert was predeceased by his brothers Woodrow Jr and Karl.
As per his request, there will be no services at this time. The Bensing Thomas Funeral Home 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg oversees his cremation.
