Robert E. “Booter” Miller, 80, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday October 29, 2015 at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Bonnie C. Beach Miller, they were married in 1980. Born October 26, 1935 in East Stroudsburg, the son of the late Eugene and Edith (Siegenfus) Miller, he was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. He was a Peacetime Veteran of the United Sates Marine Corp. Throughout his life, he was active in many local organizations, he was a member of the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, was on the Stroudsburg Planning Commission; was on the Monroe Career & Technical Institutes carpentry advisory committee; and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1106, the Elks #319, the Moose Lodge #1336 and the American Legion Post #346. However his real community service passion was being a Volunteer Fire Fighter for over 47 years joining the Stroudsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Phoenix Company #2, on June 6, 1968, where he served as 1st Lieutenant, 2nd Lieutenant, Captain, Treasurer and was on the board of Directors. Thru his efforts, the fire department was able to obtain the annual Ann Street Christmas display. He felt strongly that it should be kept alive for all the community to share. Along with his fellow firefighters, he spent many hours organizing, setting up, and maintaining the display. It has become a Christmas tradition that the entire community has enjoyed Along with his wife Bonnie, in 1979, Booter started Pocono Truss Inc.; prior to that he worked for Edinger Construction. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, he attended East Stroudsburg High School where he played football and graduated with the Class of 1956. In addition to his wife Bonnie, Booter is survived by his daughter Sharon Potter, and his son Matthew Miller and his wife Mary Lee; his brother Richard “Dick” Miller and his wife Judy; Loving grandfather of 1st Lt Benjamin Potter, Christopher Potter, Melissa Miller and Kimberly Miller; his sister in law Mano Miller; and many nieces and nephews. We will miss his smile, his humor and gorgeous baby blue eyes. But most of all, we will simply miss you. Love always and forever. Booter was predeceased by his brothers, Paul E. “Candy” Miller, Charles “Molly Miller and his sister Loretta Miller Gallagher Memorial funeral services will be announced and will be held at the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church with Pastor Edmund T. Freeborn officiating. The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, 55 Smith Street, East Stroudsburg PA 18301, or to the Stroudsburg Volunteer Fire Department, 700 Sarah Street.
