Richard E. Hooey, born on February 15, 1941, passed away on Saturday January 15, 2026, at his home. He lived a life marked by hard work, dedication.

Before his retirement, Richard dedicated many years of service as a custodian for the Stroudsburg School District. His diligent work ethic, cultivated during his earlier years at the Pocono Foundry, earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

In addition to his professional contributions, Richard found joy in simpler pleasures. He was known to spend countless hours playing shuffleboard at the Eagles, where he enjoyed not only the game but also the camaraderie that came with it.

Richard’s legacy is carried on by his loving family. He leaves behind his devoted daughters, Lora Miller, Michelle Hooey, Desiree Hooey, and Krista Hooey, as well as his sons, Richard E. Hooey Jr. and Zachary Hooey. He was the proud grandfather of many grandchildren and had the honor of watching many great-grandchildren grow.

Richard is also survived by his sister, Brenda King, his brother, Kenneth "Butch" Hooey. He was predeceased by several siblings, including Barbara Van Horn, Harold Hooey, Marge Kulp, Lois Bogart, Donald Hooey, Robert Hooey, and Russell "Russ" Hooey, who will greet him in eternal rest.

Memorial funeral services will be announced at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street Stroudsburg.
