Picture Richard “Dick” Primrose, 88 , of East Stroudsburg , passed away on Friday November 25, 2016 at Grace Park Assisted Living in Stroudsburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn “Lynn” (McDowell) Primrose. They were married September 25, 1954 in Stroudsburg. Born September 8, 1928 at home in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Earl A. and Virginia (Canner) Primrose. He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School and Churchman’s Business School in Easton. Serving in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War, Dick was stationed in Okinawa. Primrose Brothers Builders was a well-known construction business around the Pocono’s for many years, Together with his brother Herbert, they did all kinds of building and remodeling and in later years, Dick took pleasure in showing people the many places he had built of remodled. Many customers became friends, and Dick was always willing to lend and hand to someone that needed something. He was active in the community and was a member of the Monroe County Master Builder’s Association, Bushkill Outreach, Monroe County Housing Authority, the Sons of the American Revolution for the American Legion, Marshall’s Creek and Shawnee Fire Departments, Pike County AARP, Masonic Lodge, as well as other groups and boards over the years. He spent many years at his cabin at Woodpecker Lake, Dingman’s Ferry, where he enjoyed the woods and fishing. Dick is survived by his daughter: Diane Nordmark and her husband, Ted of Quakertown, PA; his son: Mark Primrose and his wife, Janet of Stroudsburg; 5 grandchildren: Tracy Cornell and her husband Steven of Millersville, Sarah Primrose of Atlanta GA, Alexander Nordmark of Quakertown, Rachel Primrose of Guam and Emily Primrose of Nashville TN; 3 great grandsons: Sheamus Nordmark of Quakertown, Austin and Gavin Cornell of Millersville; and many nieces and nephews and extended family. His family was very important to him and he loved showing off photos of the kids to anyone who visited him. He was preceded in death by his brothers Herbert and Charles and his sisters Helen Huffman and Irma Courtright Dube. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 11:00am at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg. There will be a viewing on Tuesday November 29, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Shawnee Presbyterian Church, 1129 Shawnee Church Road, Shawnee On Delaware 18356 or to the charity of your choice
