Providence (Deluca) Kensinger

Providence (DeLuca) Kensinger, a devoted mother and wife who was a friend to animals and the helpless, died peacefully on Oct. 10 at La Bella Assisted Living in Kingman, Arizona, where she moved to be closer to her daughter in 2016. She had celebrated her 85th birthday just six days earlier, in a party with her daughter and the assisted living staff. Born in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Glorioso) DeLuca. Shortly after graduating from East Stroudsburg High School, she met the love of her life, Thomas Kensinger, who moved from Martinsburg to work at Sun-Litho Print in East Stroudsburg. They married in 1958 and had two children, Theresa and Mark. Mrs. Kensinger was a hostess for decades at the former Beaver House restaurant in Stroudsburg. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Altman of Kingman, Arizona; her son, Mark Kensinger (husband of Joanne) of Fogelsville; her brother, Anthony DeLuca of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her sister, Sylvia Frassinelli of Stroud Township; and her three grandsons, Nicholas Altman, Jared Kensinger and Ryan Kensinger. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Kensinger, who died tragically in an automobile accident in 1987 at age 50, her sister, Anna Marie Press, who died in January at age 86 and her son-in- law, Phil Altman, who died in December. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 21 at The Church of Saint Luke, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg. A burial will follow.
