Phillip Eugene Shaffer, 78, of Stroudsburg, Passed away on Monday May 9, 2016, at his home. He was the husband of Lois Ann (Hack) Shaffer. Born January 26, 1938 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, the son of Guy and Constance (Arnold) Shaffer. He was a resident of Monroe County since August 1990. Phil was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He was a cab driver from 1968 to 1975 in Elizabeth and Newark, New Jersey, He also worked as a technician, assembling Government Equipment for the former Weston Instruments in New Jersey. Prior to his retirement in 1998 he was a School Bus Driver for the Stroudsburg School District. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Corey Shaffer of Stroudsburg; his brother Boyd Shaffer and his wife Sylvia of Plains; his niece Sue Ann Trudnak and her husband Bernie; his nephew Stanley Shaffer and his wife Marie. He is also survived by his great niece Michelle Miller and her husband Larry, and their children Aubrey and Addison; his great nephew Michael Trudnak and his wife Stacy, and their children Hailey and Hunter; his great nephew Stanley Shaffer and his wife Sara and their son Sebastian; and his great nephew Steven Shaffer. Memorial funeral services will be held on Saturday June 4, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 547 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Bob Shank officiating. The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phil’s name to Elevator Fund at the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 547 Main Street, Stroudsburg PA 18360.
