Philip John O’Malley, 71, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Tuesday March 11, 2025, at Saint Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus. He was the husband of the late Judith O’Malley.


Born March 30, 1953, in Stroudsburg, the son of the late Michael and Lucille (Simon) O’Malley. He was a resident of Monroe County for most of his lifetime.


He was a parishioner of The Church of Saint Matthew and was a graduate with the first class of Notre Dame Catholic High School, East Stroudsburg.


Philip worked as a photographer for Stuart Rogers Photography for a number of years in Chicago, Illinois before moving back to Monroe County and starting a family. He worked as an assistant store manager for the Weiss Grocery Chain for several years.


Philip had lifetime passions for photography, cinematography, history, poetry, music, golf, baseball, and football. He volunteered over the years to coach several local little league and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He was a lifetime Yankees and Jets fan. Aside from the arts and sports, his passion was his family.


Philip is survived by his sons, Michael J. O’Malley IV and his wife Lauren of San Diego, California, and Philip J. O’Malley of Delaware Water Gap; 3 grandchildren Lucas O’Malley, Michael O’Malley V and Judith O’Malley all of San Diego.


He is also survived by his brother Michael O’Malley of Chicago, Illinois.


Memorial Catholic prayer services will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg. The burial of his cremated remains will be interred later in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
