Norman Markowitz, 81, of Smithfield Township, passed away on January 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Patricia Jean (Otto) Markowitz, they were married June 15, 1984. He has been a resident of Monroe County since 1985. Born October 9, 1940, in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Julius and Maria (Gorman) Markowitz. Norman was a veteran and served honorably in the Marines as Private First Class aboard the U.S.S. Essex. He was a member of the NRA, VFW and American Legion. Norman spent a majority of his career working in the field of construction where he was a Building Super in Bridgewater New Jersey and later becoming a Building Inspector for Middle Smithfield Township Pa. In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his daughters Aleta Praschak and husband Philip; Hope Markowitz; his son’s Lance and Devin Markowitz; stepchildren Sharon Santiso and husband Mark; Lynn Richman and husband Julio; Terry Pawlik; Joseph Pawlik and wife Beverly; Patrick Pawlik and wife Sunny Shavalier; and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Shawnee Presbyterian Church, 1126 Shawnee Church Road, Shawnee on Delaware, Pa. 18356 on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Darcy E. Hawk officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Shawnee Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shawnee Presbyterian Building Fund.
