Monte Peters, 84, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Pocono Medical Center. Monte was born in Salinas, California and raised his family in New York. He moved to Pennsylvania in the early 1990s. Monte was the son of the late Mitchell and Zenovia Pittides. Monte served his country during the Korean War and will be memorialized at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. He loved to cook and go dancing with the love of his life, Judy Fox, during his retirement. Monte was a very funny man who could put a smile on anyone’s face, he was a wonderful friend, and had a heart of gold. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Stroudsburg, PA. In addition to Judy, Monte is survived by his daughters, Dawn Stout of East Stroudsburg; Denise Ringhoff of East Stroudsburg; and Darlene Goelz and her husband Jable Goelz of Myrtle Beach; a sister Mary Caleca of Reeders; a granddaughter Caitlyn Stout of East Stroudsburg; and a grandson Tyler Ringhoff of East Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews. Monte was always happiest spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was very proud of his granddaughter Caitlyn who has just started college. He was loved by all. Memorial funeral services will be on Monday October 24, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church 915 North 5th St, Stroudsburg. The Bensing- Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
