Millard “Skip” Philips, 84 of Stroudsburg passed away on Friday May 25, 2018. He was the husband of Judith (Altemus) Philips. He was born October 22, 1933 in Stroudsburg, son of the late Herman & Nettie (Marsh) Philips. He was a lifetime resident of Stroudsburg. He was a lifetime member of the Stroudsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Station 38, Phoenix Company #2 serving more than 62 years. He served in many capacities including Fire Chief from 1979 - 1983. He was a founding member of the Gooseberry Hollow Rod & Gun Club located in Pocono Township. He was employed by Security Bank & Trust Company, now Citizens Bank, retiring in 1995. After his retirement he worked part-time at Sebring’s Powerhouse & H.G. Smith, Stroudsburg Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army, Fort Carson, from 1953 - 1955. He was Assistant Fire Chief of Pocono Raceway from 1969 - 1978. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Judith, daughter Patricia Davis-Seel and husband Glenn of Chester Springs, PA. & Mark R. Philips and his wife Bridgette of Stroudsburg. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Devan Davis of Chester Springs, PA. & Jordan & Ryan Philips of Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews “Skip” as he liked to be called was predeceased by his brothers Lloyd Marsh, Robert “Bob” Philips, Thomas Philips & Richard “Dick” Philips all of Stroudsburg. As per “Skips wishes there will be no services. Cremation by H.G. Smith Crematory was private.
