Michael R Velardi

In the early hours of Friday morning, October 30th 2026, Michael passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.

Born on January 11th, 1959, Michael was the youngest of three brothers. He grew up celebrating his Italian heritage, wrestling for his high school, and making memories with his friends and family. Throughout his life, he held many jobs, all of which were to help those around him. Whether it was pumping gas, delivering pizza, doing electrical work, inspecting homes, or working on the Board of Commissioners, Michael wanted only the best for his community. Michael was also a proud member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Pocono Township Fire Department. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching football (Go Pats!), perfecting his lasagna recipe, and spending time with his loved ones.

Michael would say his biggest success in life was building a family. He spent every day showering his wife with love and supporting his children in all that they did. While he wouldn’t have called himself a pet person, he was a loving dog dad to Dory.

Michael was preceded in death by both his parents, Natale Velardi and Marie (Caputo) Velardi, along with his eldest brother, Frank. He is survived by his cherished wife, Sue (Miller); his daughters, Dawn and Melissa (and her husband, Darlin); his son, Matthew; his grandson, AJ; and his brother, Tony (and his wife, Debi), along with several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday Nov. 8th from Noon - 4pm at the Pocono Township Firehouse in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. This will be a casual, informal gathering. Come as you are and be ready to share stories, listen to memories, laugh, and remember all the things that made Michael who he was — a charismatic, quirky guy, with a zest for life and laughter.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Pocono Township Fire Department in his memory.
