Michael Edward McCarthy – Passed Away on 15 April, 2026
Michael “Mike” McCarthy was born February 21, 1940 in East Orange, New Jersey, to Thomas
McCarthy and Edna Biller. He was the youngest of 3 boys. He graduated from Livingston, N.J.
Highschool in 1958. He went on to become an operating engineer for the State of New Jersey
for 25.5 years. He was married to Lorraine Kolnik, in 1962 who passed early on in their
marriage, due to a car accident.
He later married Jane Wright Schneider in 1984, becoming an instant father to her 3 sons. He
joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1984 and was sealed to his sweetheart
for eternity. Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, in 2020, and his son, Brian, in 2023.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher Schneider (Cathi, preceded him last year), and Kirtis
Schneider (Loni). He also is survived by 4 grandchildren, Chance Schneider (Krystal), Guage
Schneider (Alyssa), Tevica Schneider, and Davon Schneider (Isha), as well as 9
greatgrandchildren.
Mike was a great husband, father, and grandfather. When he put his mind to anything, it was
done with precision, with care, and with excellence. He brought others up with him as he
strived for good. He loved his family, HAM radio, motorcycles, and anything mechanical. Most
of all, he loved God, and it showed.
He is loved. He will be missed. But we know where he is and we’ll see him later.
