Michael Christopher Wernimont

Michael Christopher Wernimont, 47, of Mount Pocono, passed away on Tuesday January 14, 2020 at his home. Born July 19, 1972 in Mineola, New York the son of Roy Wernimont of Reeders and the late Helen (Florio) Wernimont-Butkevits. He was a resident of Monroe County for the past 3 years and prior to that lived in Florida for over 20 years, after growing up in Elmont, New York. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Gulf War. He worked as a salesman in Bartonsville. In addition to his father Roy, Michael is survived by his daughters Mikaela C. Wernimont of Orlando, Florida, and Rachel I. Wernimont of Pembroke Pines, Florida; His siblings Janice E. Wernimont of Long Island, New York, Cookie Butkevits of Lake Mary, Florida, Joseph J. Wernimont and his wife Lena of Henryville and Meghan R. Wernimont of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by his step mother Margaret; and his nephew Niko Rodriguez, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Helen and stepfather Vincent Butkevits. There will be viewing on Monday January 20, 2020 from 12:00noon to 2:00pm and from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with a funeral service with Navy Military Honors at 7:00pm at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor Dana Antal and Lynda Keefer officiating.
