Mary Jane Rice

Mary J. Rice, 81, of Scotrun, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 5, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Born May 3, 1934 in East Stroudsburg, the daughter of the late William and Laura (Neyhardt) Snyder. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Prior to her retirement she worked as a Telephone Operator for Bell Telephone in Stroudsburg. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Stroudsburg. She also volunteered at the Pocono Medical Center for many years. She is survived her children, Valerie L. Klass and her husband William of Bartonsville, Robert L. Rice and his spouse Gerald Arreglado of Los Angeles, California, Randall A. Rice and his wife Linda of Neola and Kathleen L. Wise and her husband Thomas J. of Scotrun; she is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her sister Shirley James and her brother Kenneth Snyder. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 8, 2016 at1:00pm at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Pastor David Cornell officiating Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Friday from 12:00noon until the time of the services at the funeral In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of East Stroudsburg, 160 North Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg PA 18360
