Martin (Marty) Weiner, 85, of Stroudsburg, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, peacefully at home. He was the loving husband of the late Caroline Weiner. Born on July 12, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Kalman and Lillian (Levine) Weiner. Before moving to Stroudsburg, Martin lived for many years in Bushkill. Martin was a Veteran who served as an electrician in the Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. Later, he was a pharmaceutical sales representative for many years, retiring from Bayer. Most recently, he enjoyed music, poetry, the NY Giants, learning to surf the world wide web, and spending time with friends. Marty best described his own life’s journey, “I had a good life, and a good wife. I was fortunate to travel and share time with friends creating many wonderful memories.” Surviving family is Marty’s cousin, Connie Millman of Floral Park, New York. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Weiner. In addition to Connie, left to remember Marty fondly are very long time friends Delores Constantino, of New York, Gus and Carol Leodas, of New York, and Carol Felicio Wight, of Fort Lee, New Jersey. Local friends feeling this loss include Al and Marilyn Brizzi, Dave and Sue Ann DeWall, Peter Fiorito and Patty Mann, all of Bushkill; Maggie McMahon of Kunkletown; William Pittaro, and Melissa Lear, both of East Stroudsburg. In true Marty style, it was his sincere wish to say thank you to the people who made it possible for him to remain at home for these years. To all of his Caregiving friends from Beck ‘N Call, including Theresa, Menique, Connie, Ruth, Sandria, Kim, Dewene, Lynn, Marva, Kisha, Carol, and Deb. Marty thanks each of you for the many years of conversation, companionship, for fixing things and finding things…You made each day more enjoyable. To everyone in the ‘home office’ who helped orchestrate it all, and who made sure there was candy to eat when he dropped in to visit. To Nurse Sue, Nurse Stephanie, and Physical Therapist Jill from Allen Lear Home Care Associates, thank you for the problem solving, care, concern and compassion. Dr. Kesselring and Dr. Kerrigan, Marty would like to thank each of you for respecting and honoring his choices over the years. Thank you to the team at Compassionate Care Hospice for the support and guidance on Marty’s peaceful journey. At Marty’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation will be done through Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home in Stroudsburg. Marty will be interred privately, joining his beloved Caroline at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
