Lucas C Smith

Lucas C. Smith 41, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Born March 8, 1978 in Bethlehem, he was the son of Scott and Rebecca (Tashner) Smith. Lucas was a graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, class of 1996. He was a standout athlete during his time at Pocono Mountain, setting a few statistical records as quarterback of the football team. He also attended Mansfield University, where he was a 3 year starting Quarterback, and held two records there. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spent much of his free time hunting and fishing. Lucas could often be found during summer at his family cabin in Lake Wallenpaupack, riding their Pontoon Boat. In hunting season, Lucas spent much of his time at Rock Ridge Hunting Club in Mckean County, PA, in which he is currently the club's president. He enjoyed sightseeing this area and riding ATV's. Lucas cherished and loved spending time with his friends and family, often hosting people at his cabin, hunting club, and family property in Stroudsburg. He loved watching his daughter's sporting events. Lucas was a fan of the Denver Broncos, New York Yankees, and Penn State Football teams and enjoyed watching and attending football games at State College. Lucas worked at Walmart Distribution Center in Tobyhanna for nearly 17 years. In addition to his parents Lucas is survived by his daughter Olivia Newman, her mother Julie Newman, his brother Cody Smith and wife Danielle, nephew Austin, as well as many other Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. There will be a viewing on Saturday 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm (with a service at 3:30) at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home (401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360). In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in memory of Lucas Smith to the Pocono Heritage Land Trust or donations can also be sent to the funeral home for his daughter Olivia's college fund.
