Louis James Ogden, beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Nova Scotia. Born on June 14, 1947, in East Stroudsburg, Louis lived a life enriched by family and service.

Raised in the small community of East Stroudsburg, Lou had a sense of duty and service early on. He served as an altar boy, demonstrating his faith and commitment to his community, and later became a proud member of the Knights of Columbus as a squire. These early experiences shaped not only his character but also his deep-seated values that he carried throughout his life.

He went to St. Matthews School before graduating from East Stroudsburg South High School, where he laid the foundation for a life devoted to hard work and family. His career flourished as he contributed significantly to Ogden & Sons and Ogden Brothers Contractors, businesses that reflected his dedication and skill.

A veteran of the US Coast Guard, Louis demonstrated his bravery and commitment to his country.

In his personal life, Louis was known for his vibrant personality and unwavering love for those around him. He cherished spending time with his family, particularly with his wife, Jennifer (Griffin) Ogden, and children: daughter Jennifer Ogden Walker of Stroudsburg and son Justin Ogden Reigner of Statesville, NC, along with his husband Brad. Louis took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Skylar Rodkey and husband David, Kylea Walker, Scott Reed of the US Navy, and Ravyn Thomas, as well as being a great-grandfather to Michah. His sisters, Mary Flick of Stroudsburg and Jane Booth of Vestal, NY, along with her husband Charles, and brother John Ogden of Wilson, NC, and his wife Deb were also an essential part of his life, as were his nieces and nephews.

An adventurer at heart, he found joy in traveling, riding motorcycles through winding roads, gardening, wood working and the serenity of saltwater fishing.

Though we mourn the passing of Louis James Ogden, we remember and celebrate a life fully lived—one defined by love, service, and adventure. His memory will continue to resonate through the laughter and love of family gatherings, where his spirit will forever remain a guiding presence.

Louis James Ogden’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who remember him for his kindness, strength, and the profound love he shared with all those fortunate enough to know him. In addition to his parents James and Ivy Ogden he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Ogden, who will be fondly remembered as part of Louis's enduring legacy.
