Leslie Harold Singer, 76, of Pocono Township, passed away in the comfort of his home

on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Born February 27,1947, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Harold and

Bessie Drake Singer and is survived by two children: Travis Singer, 41, and Brianna

Strunk, 29, both of Pocono Township.

Leslie was a lifelong resident of Monroe County who enjoyed long drives on back roads

in his sports car, visiting local establishments such as the diners, The Tannersville

Cranberry Bog, advocating for wildlife and land preservation, as well as everything

Viking Age related.

Leslie took great pride in keeping the memory of Singer Signs alive, the legacy business

his late father founded in 1950. Singer Signs dominated the outdoor advertising industry

in the Pocono Mountains for nearly 50 years, through true craftsmanship and humble

mentality.

Together, Leslie and his father freehand lettered, painted, and self-installed thousands

of billboards and large signs across the region for customers including all the major

resorts, popular attractions, businesses of all sizes, realtors, and local TV stations. They

also specialized in other projects including the lettering of commercial, police, and

emergency vehicles.

The well-respected “SINGER” trademark was associated with iconic places such as

Penn Hills, Bushkill Falls, Camelback Resort, Alpine Mountain, Shawnee Inn, Shawnee

Mountain, Fernwood Resort, Magic Valley Amusement Park, and many more.

In addition to learning from his father, who was self-taught, Leslie attended the Butera

School of Art in Boston for two years. He also served in the Army National Guard.

Earlier in life, Leslie enjoyed cruising in his 1966 Mustang convertible, boating on Lake

Wallenpaupack and the Delaware River, flying in his father’s Cessna 172 Skyhawk, and

together visiting nearly all 50 states and national landmarks by motorhome.

Leslie adored his parents and loved his children. He was known for calling himself a

‘simple man’ who wanted a ‘simple life.’ He is finally at peace after a hard-fought health

battle and will be missed dearly by many, including his children.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. followed

by funeral services at 12:30 p.m. at Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th

Street, Stroudsburg, with Chaplain Brian Nichols officiating. Burial will immediately

follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, where Leslie will be laid to rest

alongside his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy to

benefit The Tannersville Cranberry Bog.
