Leona H. Peters

Leona H. Peters, 83, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at her home. She was the loving wife of Joseph B. Picture Leona H. Peters, 83, of Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at her home surrounded by her children.  She was the loving wife of  Joseph B. Peters Jr. who died December 19, 2016.  Born April 7, 1934 in Plains, the daughter of the late Matthew and Lydia (Sokolowski) Kalinoski.   Leona was a member of  The Church of Saint Luke, where she was active with the craft club.  Upon graduating from Wyoming Business Seminary she worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC. returning to Pennsylvania to start her family. While living in the Poconos she was an Executive Legal Secretary at Shawnee resort for many years.  Leona was the most loving mother and wife, and is survived by her six children, Lynne Ann DeWitt-Brodzik and her husband John of Leesburg NJ, Joseph B. Peters III and his wife Linda of New Hope, Matthew Peters of Stroudsburg, Frank B. Peters and his wife Gretchen of Stroudsburg, Lorraine Peters of Middletown NJ and Robert A. Peters and his wife Laurie of Stroudsburg; and 10 grandchildren 3 nephews and a niece.   She was predeceased by her brother  Leonard  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday March 8, 2018 at 12:00pm at the Church of St Luke, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg with Father Carmen Perry as celebrant.  Burial will be at  the convenience of the family in  the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. There will be a  viewing on Thursday March 8, from 11:00am until the time of the Mass at church.  The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg  is charge of  funeral arrangements.
