Kathryn "Kay" Merclean, 86, of Walden 111 Senior Living Facility, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11th.

Born in East Stroudsburg, Kay was the beloved daughter of Delmont Primrose and Frances (Eilenberger) DeHaven. She was the loving widow of Allen Merclean and had previously been married to David Wisk. Kay devoted 21 years to working in the furniture department at Hess’s, beginning her career at their main store in Allentown. Later, she moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina, where she continued her work with Royal Doulton China and Haverty’s Furniture.

Kay was a graduate of Bangor Area High School and attended Churchman’s Business School. Displaying a passion for interior design, she took courses in New York City while working at Hess’s. Throughout her life, Kay was an avid animal lover and held a special affection for horses, which she rode well into her seventies. She was a faithful member of St. Andrews By the Sea United Methodist Church and took great pride in supporting their fundraisers through her baking talents.

She is lovingly survived by her son, David Wisk of Bath, Pennsylvania, as well as five stepchildren: Carole LaRue of Phoenix, Arizona; David Merclean of Mendham, New Jersey; Mark Merclean of Succasunna, New Jersey; Kathy Rockwell of Boonton Township, New Jersey; and Nancy Liptrot of Wilton, Connecticut. Kay also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. She shared a close bond with her cousin, Sonja Eilenberger of Monroe Township, New Jersey.

A private burial service will be held at Laurelwood Cemetery at the family’s convenience.

Kathryn Merclean’s warmth, dedication, and love for her family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
