Kathleen Fey (74) of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 8th, 2023 at home surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with Lung Cancer.
Born November 5, 1948 in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late William Peter and Helen Anna (Bowers) Fey. Kathy was a resident of Monroe County, PA for the past 18 years. Prior to that, she resided in East Northport on Long Island, Howard Beach, Glendale and Ridgewood, New York.
In her early life, she was a member of St Aloysius RC Church in Ridgewood, New York and she attended Grover Cleveland High School. One of her first jobs was working for a chain of prominent local New York Grocery Stores known as Bohack’s. She also worked as an operator for a New York Telephone Company, and later spent several years working as an Office Clerk for Heidelberg Eastern (a printing press parts company) on Woodhaven Blvd. in Glendale, NY before the company decided to move its USA Headquarters to Georgia in the 1990s.
Prior to her retirement, Kathy changed careers and became a school bus driver throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC and Long Island for companies such as Varsity Bus Company and Half Hollow Hills Central School District.
Kathy was one of the nicest, most caring and family-oriented women you would hope to meet, who instilled that sense of family first in her nephews. She cared for her mother, Helen, for the large majority of her lifetime after losing her father, William, in 1972 unexpectedly. She also helped raise her two nephews, Keith and Michael, throughout their entire lives and took custody of them in their teenage years. Though she never gave birth to a child herself, she was every bit as much of a mother to them as any birth mother could be.
Kathy was a major fan of The Beatles and loved all Oldies Music from the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s, as well as Country Music. She shared her love of this music with her nephews, making sure they had an appreciation for all types of music, not just modern pop and rock. She was also a big fan of women’s softball and Major League Baseball, as well as WWF and WWE wrestling, especially women’s wrestling. Her favorite Baseball Team was the New York Mets, and some of her favorite wrestlers were The Bellas and Daniel Bryan. By far, her favorite pastime was watching television, and her favorite show was The Golden Girls. Kathy adored dogs and made sure her nephews were always exposed to caring for dogs as a part of the family. She even amateur bred Dalmatians a couple times.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her father, mother, her sister MaryLou Marcel, and the love of her life, Jeanne Coddington, who passed from AML Leukemia in 1994. She is survived by her 2 nephews, Michael S. Sidaras-Tirrito and his husband Gaetano, of East Stroudsburg, and Keith Marcel and his wife Winna, of Waymart. She is also survived by her 2 great nieces, Beja and Keira; her chosen sister, Debra “Debbi” Baker; and many cousins and close friends. She will fondly be remembered as an Angel on Earth by all whose lives she touched and forever changed.
