Kanta Grover

Kanta Grover, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2021 at her home with all loved ones around her. She was born on July 5, 1934 in Jhelum to Krishan Lal Pahuja and Shanti Devi Pahuja. She married Shri Ved Prakash Grover in 1955 who preceded her death in 2006. To those who had the opportunity to meet her, they knew Kanta was a unique and very special woman. She always looked to bestow her wisdom to those she met and touched the hearts and shared her love with everyone who came in contact. She was the oldest of her siblings, being a sister to 6 brothers and adopted the role of matriarch at a very early age. Alongside raising her brothers and family, Kanta also had a strong interest and desire for education. Despite living during a time when women did not pursue higher education, Kanta was one of the only girls in her hometown to have graduated college in India with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Hindi & English Literature. In addition to being a trailblazer in her own education, Kanta took pride in ensuring her children and grandchildren also pursued higher education in different streams. Alongside education, she also considered herself a religious devotee and held her relationship with God close to her heart. She was an ardent believer in Vedic teachings, the origins of the Hindu religion propounded by Arya Samaj. Having grown up in a large family, it was her dream to also have a large family of her own. She is survived by her four children, Dinesh (Titu) Grover, Rakesh (Bitu) Grover, Ruby Verma and Richa Dhandha.
