Joyce Rusling Ward,83, of Stroud Township passed away on Wednesday October 12, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of the late David D. Ward who died Sept 16, 2011
Born January 25,1939 in Pen Argyl, the daughter of the late Horace and Velma (Wills) Rusling.
She graduated from E Stroudsburg High School and St Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Bethlehem. After her marriage she lived in Somerville, NJ where she was a staff nurse in Somerset Hospital. She and her husband moved to Stroudsburg to raise a family. She was an ER Nurse at Pocono Medical Center and an office nurse until she entered the Allegheny General Hospital's Nurse Practitioner Program in Pittsburgh. Joyce was the first nurse practitioner in Monroe County and worked in orthopedics. Later she was a marketing rep for home care agencies, a coordinator for Riverside Rehabilitation, and other diversified nursing positions. She enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening.
A former board member for the Pocono Mountain Kidney Foundation and Christmas in April Program, she also volunteered at the Eastern Monroe Public Library.
She is survived by her Son Christopher B. Ward and her sister Jane Cloud, and multiple nephews and a niece
She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter Jennifer Ward
The Bensing-Thomas funeral Home, 401 N 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of arrangements. There will be no services.
