Joyce E (Frey) Payonk

Joyce E. (Frey) Payonk, 92, of Nazareth, was called to heaven on Sunday June 23, 2024, at the Renaissance Home, Forks Twp. She was the loving wife of Joseph A. Payonk who passed away February 8, 2006, they were married for 55 years at the time of his death.

Born October 7, 1931, in Bath Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen (Diehl) Frey.

Joyce is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nazareth. Joyce worked as a crossing guard, in food services at Floyd R. Shafer school, as a caregiver, and prior to retirement as a Pharmacist Assistant at the former Koehler’s Pharmacy in Nazareth. Joyce was also a breast cancer survivor.

Joyce will be missed by her son Daryl Payonk and his companion Wanda Schutt of Nazareth, her daughter Debbie Payonk Knecht and fiancé Jack Undercuffler of Allentown, her 2 granddaughters: Tara Tomko husband Bryan, Kaitlyn Knecht, great-grandson Kellan Tomko, many nieces and nephews, and companion Joseph Butz. Joyce was predeceased by her brothers Richard, Kenneth “Dale”, and sister Maryellen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 South Broad Street, Nazareth, PA. Friends and family may call from 9 am to 11 am, services immediately following.

Interment of her cremated remains will be private at the family’s convenience.

The Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of her arrangements.
