Josephine Margaret Centenaro

On December 17, 2020 Josephine Margaret Centenaro passed away peacefully at age 95, after bravely fighting a COVID­19 infection for several weeks. “Josie” or “Jo” ­ as she was known to her friends and family ­ was the quintessential “Italian mamma”. Totally devoted to her family, she was a fantastic cook, faithful wife, and wonderful mother. She loved holidays and big family gatherings, when she would be in her element, preparing whatever feast was appropriate for the occasion, and nothing pleased her more than seeing people enjoy the delicious food that she made for them. She also took great pleasure in gardening and reading and was renowned for her vast repertoire of colorful Italian phrases. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Mario in 2016 and is survived by her sisters Anna, Nancy, and Gloria, sons John, Richard, and Bill, and grandchildren Sara, Billy, and Tommy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews of many generations. In light of the current pandemic situation, a memorial service will be held for her at a later date, once people are able to travel safely again and gather to celebrate her life.
