Joan Marie Welsh Skoranski

Joan Marie Welsh Skoranski, a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on June 17, 2025.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Helen Welsh. She is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene; her daughter, Jennifer Ferrick; her sons, Allen Skoranski and David Skoranski; her daughter-in-law Michelle Skoranski; and her three cherished grandchildren, Theodore, Alexander and Madison. As well as her brother and two sisters; Bonnie Hill and Debbie Varcoe.

Born and raised in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, Joan carried with her a deep love for god and country as well as her hometown. A proud graduate of Damascus High School, she maintained a lifelong connection with her fellow classmates and the community that shaped her.

After graduation, Joan began a remarkable journey of service and purpose. She served her country honorably in the United States Air Force. Following her military service, she earned a B.A. from East Stroudsburg University, where she was named to the prestigious Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Joan dedicated a significant part of her career to empowering displaced women, teaching them computer and office skills while offering vital emotional support. Her compassion and guidance had a profound, lasting impact on countless lives, and she was often approached by women who expressed deep gratitude for the hope and confidence she helped them reclaim. Her efforts were recognized when she was named Woman of the Year by the ESU Women’s Center.

Professionally, Joan enjoyed a successful career as a computer consultant and educator. A devout Christian, her faith was central to her life and service. She provided critical financial and accounting support to both the Episcopal and First Baptist churches.

Once her third child was born, Joan shifted her focus more fully to her family. Her deep appreciation for heritage led to her recognition as a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an honor she cherished.

Above all, Joan's greatest joy and legacy were her children and grandchildren. Her strength, generosity, and unwavering love will be missed beyond measure.

May God bless her and keep her.

Her viewing will be held on Monday, June 23rd, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral home at 401 N 5th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
