Joan A. Franks

Joan A. Franks, 85,of Stroudsburg,, passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Manor. She was the wife of the late Wayne L. Franks Sr. Born December 5, 1932 in Paterson, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Allen “Muff” Phillips and the late Margaret Canfield. She was a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime. Joan was a member of St John’s EC Church of Bartonsville, the Pocono/Jackson Township Historical Society, and TOPS. Prior to her retirement she worked as the manager of the U-Lock-It of Pocono in Bartonsville. Prior to that she worked at the Sears and Roebuck Service Center on Quaker Alley in Stroudsburg for many years. Joan is survived by her children, Wayne L. Franks Jr. and his wife Nancy of Stroudsburg, Donald L. Werkheiser of Mount Pocono, Jeffery Franks and his wife Lina of Swiftwater. Her Grandchildren Karl R. Franks, Alexander L. Franks, Mary M. Johnson, Justin Franks, Jessica Franks and Julian Franks; her great grandchildren Olivia, Emma and Jocelyn Johnson. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Schoch of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Gail Ann Werkheiser, her brother Robert Phillips, her sisters, Ada Mae Sardegna and Nancy Canfield Preister. Friends and family may call Friday, October 12, 2018 from 6-8 pm and Saturday October 13 from 10-until the time of the service at 11:00am at St. John's EC Church of Bartonsville, 6014 Custard Rd., Stroudsburg, with Pastor Paul J. Miller officiating. The Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg is in charge of the arrangements.
