Janis Marie Menist

Janis Marie Menist, born on February 14, 1958, in Passaic, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. A proud graduate of Nutley High School and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, Janis possessed a rare blend of creative flair and sharp business acumen.
For over 25 years, she was the proud sole proprietor of Tax Specialties, where her clients valued her sharp mind and dependable guidance. More recently, she brought her warmth and dedication to the team at Giant, where she was considered a beloved part of the work family for over five years.
Janis was a devoted wife, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her late husband, David Menist. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving, supportive mother and a doting grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by her three devoted sons, Matthew Menist, Jason Menist, and David Menist; her cherished grandson, Kaleb Menist, sisters Judi Negra, Carolyn Kohler, brother John Negra, Aunt Maria Bozza; and a community of friends and extended family who will miss her deeply.

A viewing to honor Janis's life will be held at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, located at 401 North 5th Street in Stroudsburg on June 15, 2026, with two viewing periods offered from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and later from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Catholic prayer service will be held at 7:15 with Father Michael Quinnan officiating.
