Jane (Lipe) Savage Obituary

A resident of Mrs. Bush’s Personal Care home since 2018, she previously lived in Effort, PA and Medford, NY. Born and raised in East Stroudsburg, PA, Jane passed on Friday, October 27, 2023. She was 88 years old.

Jane was a retired teacher from Patchogue-Medford School district where she taught for 26 years. She graduated from Ithaca College in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education. She loved being a music teacher and the arts and being a teacher gave her great joy in bringing music to young children’s heart. She was active in Girl Scouts, PTA, and a vocal soloist.

Jane was a loving mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Gouger of Montgomery, NY, her son, Robert D. Savage Jr and his wife Sandra of Pittsboro, NC, grandsons Jonathan Gouger and wife Shannon of Hopewell Junction, NY, Russell Gouger and wife Lilia of West Seneca, NY and great grandchildren Owen and Wesley Gouger, as well as her nephews Fred Lipe, Jeff Lipe and wife Denise, and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Jane enjoyed traveling with friends and family, especially cruising from Mexico, the Caribbean, Greece, Alaska, and Israel amongst many others. She loved animals, both large and small.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Savage, a son, John, her parents Fred Lipe Sr and Grace (nee Kieper) Lipe, her brother Fred (Junior) Lipe, and nephews Edward and Terry Lipe and many other family members and friends.
