They were active in the Dramatic Club and went on a special tour of “Arsenic and Old Lace” to hospitals and to raise funds for wounded veterans. Jane was active in the community and professional organizations, including the Garden City branch of the American Association of University Women serving two terms as the organization’s president. In addition to being a devoted mother she loved playing bridge, tending her beautiful garden and visiting family. In 1970 Jane and Jim purchased a seasonal home, known as Eagle Rock Lodge, in Shawnee on Delaware, where the family had many memorable times with friends and loved ones throughout the years.

Following Jim’s retirement in 1985, they worked together operating Eagle Rock Lodge as a bed and breakfast for many years. They enjoyed hosting, socializing and sharing stories with guests from many different places and backgrounds. They also travelled, taking memorable trips to Hawaii and Tortola.
