James S. “Jim” Martis, 83, of Schnecksville, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 at
St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus surrounded by family. Born in Allentown on
February 17, 1941, he was the son of the late Stephen and Connie (Konkus) Martis. Jim
proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. Jim worked as a welder and in
maintenance at Air Products and Chemicals for 41 years.
Jim spent his days cultivating his garden and took joy in finding the perfect rock for his
rock wall on the side of the road – because you never know when the perfect stone may
be found. He could often be found rocking his sweatpants and loafers at Home Depot
and Lowe’s, either looking for his next great find or helping a customer in need. In his
workshop, he was the king of tools and DIY projects, forever fixing and creating. His
hands were never idle and his heart was always full of kindness.
Jim’s kindness touched anyone who ever crossed his path. Jim was the type of person
who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He saw good in everyone and made it
his mission to brighten their day. He could strike up a conversation with perfect
strangers and had a way of making people feel special. He truly was one of a kind,
someone who made the world better just by being in it. While we will miss him dearly,
Jim would not want us to mourn his passing. Instead, he would want us to honor his
memory and KEEP SMILING.
Jim is survived by his best friend, Tina Martis and his beloved daughters, Molly Martis
and fiancé Daniel Deiter, Andrea Martis and fiancé Daniel Ficarro; grandchildren:
Dominic, Kennedy, Nico and Brooklyn; countless friends.
A private cremation will be held per Jim’s wishes, and a celebration of life to honor Jim’s
memory will take place at a later date, where friends and family are welcome to
remember Jim and the amazing person he was.
