Jacques H. Labye, 85, of Stroudsburg, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 21, 2021. Jacques is survived by his wife, Lacia Labye; his daughter Rose (Tony) Navarro; 3 grandchildren Ava Navarro, Grant Navarro and Isaiah Navarro; and 2 step-daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Francis and Carolina Fernandez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henriette Franck and Fernand Labye; his sister Gisele Labye, and 3 brothers, Guy Labye, Fernand Labye and Roland Labye, all of Belgium. Jacques was born in Richelle, Belgium. From a young age, Jacques showed a strong passion for cooking which led him to pursue a career as a chef. Due to Jacques strong determination and distinctive abilities, he had many opportunities to cook internationally. He cooked for the king of Congo and was given the opportunity to come to the United States to continue his pursuit of being a chef. Jacques was able to open his own restaurant and became an award winning chef and a master of the culinary arts. Upon retiring, Jacques enjoyed serving others with his delicious cuisine at various churches. In addition to cooking, Jacques also enjoyed gardening, skiing, golfing and spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. Jacques was known for creating “nicknames/pet-names” for his loved ones as a term of endearment and his own comedic enjoyment. Jacques will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the communities that he has served. The family extends an invitation to those wishing to celebrate Jacques’ life to join us on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home in Stroudsburg.
