Gregory Scott Maichin passed away at home in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, on April 28, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born in Glen Cove, Long Island, to John and Arden Maichin, Gregory was one of seven children. He loved Jesus and was known for singing his favorite hymns loudly and joyfully throughout the house.
Gregory was a well-regarded business owner, but he always said that his greatest accomplishment in life was his five beautiful children. He found joy in nature in feeding the birds and deer, fishing, splitting firewood, and spending time with family in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He loved playing board games and cards with his children, sharing a nice meal with his family, and creating memories with those he loved most.
Gregory is survived by his loving wife, Marla Maichin; his children: Joshua (and his wife Nicole), Elaine (and her fiancé Mujeeb), Jonathan, Maryruth, and Victoria (and her husband Joshua Prepetit); and his granddaughter Vivian Joy. Gregory's surviving siblings: Cathy Sussman, Pamela Maichin and Lisa Maichin as well as four well-loved nephews, Jessie, Johnny, Tiowa, and Chris.
Gregory was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be profoundly missed. His faith humor and love for family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 20, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Stroudsburg, 146 Bossardsville Road, Sciota, PA 18354.
Gregory would want anyone reading his obituary to know that Jesus Christ is the son of God and died for the sins of the world. That whosoever believes in Him, confesses and repents of their sin will have eternal life. He would always share the good news that Christ came to heal the brokenhearted and would proclaim to all that would listen that Jesus is coming again soon.
“Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” James 4:14
