Gladys Virginia Doll, 90, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 at the Pocono Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Carroll V. Doll. Born July 22, 1922, in East Stroudsburg she was the daughter of the late Marvin K. and Margaret (Fritz) Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. She was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, and was very active in the women’s circle at the church when she was younger. Gladys was a very kind and giving person, putting other people’s needs before her own and volunteered for many local charities including, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and Pocono Area Transitional Housing; she was also active with the PTA and the Girl Scouts, where she was the cookie chair person for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and is survived by her daughter, Patricia E. Furey and her husband, Ted of East Stroudsburg; her son William D. Doll and his wife, Diane, of Sciota; her grandchildren, Sean, Troy, Brad, Amy, and Chris; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Schoonover of East Stroudsburg. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., time of memorial funeral services, Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Ann Schoonover, her niece, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
