Gerald Benedetto

Jerry Benedetto was born on May 4, 1959, in Staten Island, New York, and passed away at the age of 66 on December 17, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas, where his reintroduced passion for truck driving led him to meet the wonderful Elma Dyer. Jerry was the beloved son of Angelina Sanhueza and Gerald Benedetto Sr.; brother to Kenneth, Margaret, Dona, Derek, and Heath; father of Melissa, Gerald III, and Liza; and stepfather to Rebecca, Brian, and Michael, along with many others who proudly fill his family tree. Jerry resided in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, where in 2000 he founded his own business, Benedetto Painting & Powerwashing. A dedicated and hardworking man, Jerry took great pride in the quality and perfection of his workmanship and became highly recommended and respected in his field. Although Cresco, Pennsylvania, was where Jerry and his family made their home, the bowling lanes were where he felt most at peace. His bowling career spanned from 1990 to 2007 and included remarkable accomplishments, such as 14 perfect 300 games and eight 800 series. If not for his medical condition of gout, his passion for bowling would have continued even longer. Jerry’s bowling achievements were recognized by the Pocono Record following his most successful season, from August 1, 2003, to July 31, 2004, in an article titled “Pins Are Falling for Local Bowler Jerry Benedetto.” Another newspaper feature also highlights his notable accomplishments on the lanes.
