George Barker Profile Photo

George Barker 62 of Old Forge Pa passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 5, 2023. He was born July 26, 1962, in Brooklyn NY. He is the son of the late James and Martha Barker.

After completing his general education, he found a passion doing auto body repair. Despite being seriously injured at a young age he persevered. His hands were able to do the work of ten fingers despite only having 7. After that he began a new passion of restoring homes. He had skill beyond compare. If you ever needed help with a project, then he would be first in line to help.

Sixteen years ago, he became the proud father of his son Stefano Barker. He talked about him all the time and he traveled to Costa Rica often to spend time with him.

While George was in Costa Rica, we were told that he would help the people in the neighborhood fix up the parks by cleaning, painting, and planting flowers to make it look beautiful. He loved restoring his home as well as his neighbors' homes. He was meticulous and detail oriented. He loved Tiffany and stained glass as indicated by the outside of his home. He loved fishing with friends in his spare time. He almost completed the restoration of his house so his son Stefano whom he dearly loved could come visit and enjoy the magnificent work he did.

George was survived by his son Stefano, his brother James Barker and his sister Irene Bell. He also had many nieces and nephews that will truly miss him. They even had a nickname for him, Uncle GUG, short for great uncle George.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William Barker and his sister Jane Barker.

The service will be held at Bensing Thomas funeral home 401 N5th street Stroudsburg pa 18360 on Saturday January 20 from 1-3pm with a celebration of life to follow at The American legion 646 fairground road Gilbert Pa 18331
